Next-Gen Vehicular Communications: From V2X to 5G and Beyond

The rapid evolution of vehicular communication technologies, referred to as V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything), is playing a crucial role in enabling intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and autonomous driving. While current V2X systems based on 5G already support advanced connectivity and mobility services through ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) and massive connectivity, the advent of beyond 5G promises a paradigm shift. With features such as integrated sensing and communication, AI-native networking, and non-terrestrial network (NTN) support, 5G and beyond are expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of future vehicular networks.

This workshop aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to explore the transition from current V2X systems to next-generation vehicular communications in the 5G and beyond era. We welcome innovative research contributions addressing technical, architectural, and societal challenges related to the design, deployment, and optimization of future V2X-enabled transportation systems.

We invite original research contributions on (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • 5G and 6G-enabled V2X networks
  • Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication
  • Edge and cloud computing for V2X applications
  • AI/ML-driven optimization for V2X networks
  • Resource allocation and management for vehicular networks
  • Vehicular edge and cloud computing for low-latency services
  • Network slicing and orchestration in V2X environments
  • Digital twins for vehicular networks and intelligent transportation
  • Security, trust, and privacy in 6G-enabled vehicular systems
  • Satellite and HAPS integration for global V2X coverage (NTN-V2X)
  • Cross-layer design and optimization for vehicular communication
  • Experimental platforms, testbeds, and real-world deployments
  • QoS and QoE for multimedia and critical applications in vehicular networks
  • V2X applications in smart cities and connected autonomous vehicles

Submissions

Authors are invited to submit original contributions that have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Papers should be prepared using the IEEE 2-column conference style and are limited to 8 pages including references (Regular papers) or 5 pages including references (Short papers).

They must be submitted electronically in PDF format through EDAS at: https://edas.info/N33941

Papers exceeding page limits, multiple submissions, and self-plagiarized papers will be rejected without further review. All other papers will sustain a thorough single-blind review process.

Technically co-sponsored by IEEE, IEEE ComSoc

For accepted papers to be included on conference proceedings and to be submitted to IEEE Xplore, at least one author must register at the Author rate and papers must be presented in-person at the conference by a registered co-author.
